[preview] Dave Owen "Loose Lips"
I'm really hoping 2011 is this dude's year. Fabio's signed the still-unreleased "Yo Girl" to Creative Source, and from what Bailey said on this week's show, Co-Lab has picked up on this gem from Dave Owen. His ear for proper R&B samples is what sets him apart. It's almost as if he finds that perfect sample and loads it into the Delorean and transports them to that mid-90's Jungle vibe. Such an obvious jack, too - I won't say what the original tune is, but that's wild. [preview] Chase & Status "Hocus Pocus"
Here's a bit from Chase & Status' No More Idols, which drops on the 31st of January. This is a rip from Bailey's latest 1Xtra show, and it's a banger. Might be the first Drum & Bass tune I've heard from the album - I think? I also know that this tune got dropped by Andy C during the RBMA Soundclash from last October (it was titled "Messy Bus" on that mix), and I sort of liked that "make records" sample that was used in that version. DOA Presents Bassline Podcast Vol. 1: Thought
It's been a nightmare trying to sort out the goings-on at Dogs On Acid, with the new site redesign and all. I'm glad there have been some who continue to push-on and ride this out with us, as they get treats like this! Thought's a producer I've been a fan of for a bit, and I'm glad he asked DOA to officially premiere the Bassline Agency's podcast, with a special, deadly mix from Thought himself. We go pretty heavy on the interview side, then roll out the mix - and a free tune, "Radial". Hit up this DOA post for all the goodies.

With so much good music arriving in the Exit inbox it was decided that a various artist project was needed to ensure that it all sees the light of day and doesn’t get caught up in a never ending schedule of singles.
As normal with Exit Records, there’s no prejudice in the track selection. Well known producers such as Skream, Instra:mental, Scuba and Commix rub shoulders with some inspiring new talents such as Indigo, Synkro, Mode and Code 3. The theme of the album is quality timeless music, whether it be a dance floor killer such as Systems ‘Observation Point’ or Loxy and Resounds ‘Vertigo’ through to the tangerine dreamlike sounds of Croms ‘Invisible Cities’ or Stray’s ‘Pushed’, this album truly represents the more experimental side of Drum and Bass as opposed to the crash bang wollop which seems to be the only side of Drum and Bass portrayed by the mainstream media today.
Hopefully this album will manage to reach the people that thought this forward thinking music was left behind in the nineties and let them know that it’s still alive and well and still capable of throwing up some surprising and unpredictable results.
